Gary Kaplan, DPM past president of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in 1991 has been in the education of DPM’s for almost his whole life. Being the 1st son of the father of foot surgery, Dr. Earl Kaplan, Gary has been there from the beginning. Earl Kaplan’s legacy is clearly a moment in time that changed our whole profession. Surgery by DPM’s did not exist until Civic Hospital (know known as Kern Hospital) was started by Dr. Earl Kaplan in Michigan. Through out Gary’s life, he has been a student of this profession and then a teacher then director of Residency Training at Kern and so much more. Please join me as we together learn from Dr. Gary Kaplan, stories about his youth, his father, residency training, leadership of ACFAS, and raising money for our profession (Kaplan/Clarke Golf event).
