D. Scot Malay, DPM is a graduate of Juniata College, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, where he received a B.S. in Biology. He graduated from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine (TUSPM, formerly the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine) in 1983, after which he did his residency in foot and ankle reconstructive and traumatological surgery at Doctors Hospital in Tucker, Georgia, from 1983 to 1986. Thereafter, he joined the faculty of TUSPM as an Assistant Professor of foot and ankle surgery. He directed the foot and ankle residency program of the North Philadelphia Health System from 1989 to 1992, and left TUSPM for private practice in State College, Pennsylvania, where he practiced from 1992 to 2001. In 2001, he joined the Ankle and Foot Medical Centers of the Delaware Valley and the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania in 2005, and he is currently in private practice, and trains residents and fellows in foot and ankle surgery and clinical research at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He has been the principal investigator of a number of clinical research projects, and the author of numerous peer reviewed reports. He has been the Editor of the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery since June of 2006, and has special interests in promoting an understanding and working knowledge of the levels of clinical evidence and the practice of evidence-based medicine in the realm of foot and ankle surgery.
